Torture in the Egyptian Police Stations

The victim was screaming and crying while being sexually assaulted. He kept begging, with respect, the officer for mercy.
The officer sounded like he was enjoying the torture and the victim’s begging, and continued on the assault. He also ordered videotaping it so it could be a blackmailing tool!

Torture in the Egyptian Police Stations
I watched that horrible video yesterday, and I could not stop my inside shaking or the tears of my eyes. I had an awful and nauseating feeling that I could not describe. I felt shame and guilt of being an Egyptian. I could not comment on it yesterday because I was overwhelmed with these feelings and emotions.
That police officer (Islam!) looked like a decent young man who could have been a friend or a relative. The victim looked also like a decent young man who could be a friend or a relative.
The place of the assault was not a high security prison but a police office!
The victim’s crime was not related to terrorism, but trying to protect a relative from being beaten by an officer!
The victim was screaming and crying while being sexually assaulted. He kept begging, with respect, the officer for mercy.
The officer sounded like he was enjoying the torture and the victim’s begging, and continued on the assault. He also ordered videotaping it so it could be a blackmailing tool!
The other soldiers were carrying the orders and watching as if it was a regular and routine procedure for punishment for maintaining order.
When the videotape became public, the officer was ‘punished’, probably not for his act, but because the videotape was leaked to the Public.
I kept thinking about what was going on in Egypt.
It is a typical behavior of a Gang or a Mafia group that gain their respect by spreading fear in the Public. The problem is that the victims and the Gang members are our friends and relatives.
The Gang members do not feel any guilt, but they are proud of doing their job right.
Is it our ‘dysfunctional family behavior’, which make us punish each other for minimum offence, if any, by the maximum humiliation?
This behavior is seen, and mostly accepted or tolerated, everywhere in Egypt. Humiliating punishment to children by their parents , to students by their teachers and to soldiers by their officers are obvious examples.
I kept thinking what I would have done if I were the victim in this video. I felt that a man with dignity should not cry, scream or beg his assailant for mercy. Unfortunately these characters are prevalent in Egypt. Cowardice is a common feature in our culture, and once we get the power, we abuse it.
I remember how the Jewish people, wherever the are, refer to themselves as One People, and if any Jewish person in the world get hurt, the whole community feels it and reacts actively to save him and protect his rights. We know that very well, and we believe that is their weak point.
We know that if we kidnapped 5 Jewish people we could exchange them for thousands of Arab people.
Most of us, not only feel that we are not a part of one Arab nation, but also we feel that we are not even One People in Egypt.
