National Policy
National Policy
First:
The Alliance of Egyptian Americans(AEA) strategic goals for Egypt are: Democracy, Social Justice, and Sustainable Development. Genuine democracy is the foundation for achieving these goals.
Second:
The route to real Democracy for Egypt must begin with Constitutional Reform. Delegates who draft this reform must represent all sectors of Egyptian society. Writing a good constitution in itself is not enough. The constitution should be followed and protected by different institutions and understood by the Egyptian people.
Third:
A new Constitution should be the result of free national debate. AEA believes in:
- Full respect for Human Rights
- Full guarantees for Religious Freedom and Gender Equality
- Freedom of Speech, Assembly and Association
- Separation of power
Fourth
AEA will adopt an action plan to achieve AEA goals and objectives( Democracy, Social Justice, and Sustainable Development),working with official and unofficial contacts in the U.S., as well as Egyptians working for democracy in Egypt, and all interested parties worldwide.
Fifth
Each chapter will develop its own action plan within the framework of AEA, utilizing its own strengths and circumstances.
Sixth
In order to accomplish its goals and objectives, AEA will establish a strong organization, develop its membership, build its information base, and ensure its financial viability.
