The Alliance of Egyptian Americans (AEA) monitors with great and increasing concern the expected mass demonstrations which started today across Egypt. The AEA fully supports the demands of the Egyptian people for democracy, freedom and human rights. The suffering of the Egyptian people along the last 3 decades cannot be emphasized more. We call on the Egyptian Government to honor the will of the people and renounce its old violent methods in dealing with the public. The AEA has long warned the Egyptian Government of the potential pent-up reaction to the blocked political process. It is time to immediately bring into being the long due fundamental reform before it is too late.
 
The AEA strongly warns the Egyptian Government of the consequences of resorting to its arsenal of brutal methods in attempting to quell the peaceful demonstrations.
 
As Egyptian Americans, we call on the US Administration and indeed on all Americans to fully support the demands of the Egyptian people. It is time for the Americans Administration to understand that US national interests in Egypt lies with the people not with their oppressors, as oppression is never sustainable.
