AEA Northern California Meeting, Friday October 29, 2010

Minutes:
- 1) Tarek discussed goals, objectives, and previous accomplishments of AEA.
- 2) The attendees discussed the following topics:
- 2.1 AEA current activities to support Egyptians Americans to be more politically active in their communities, states and within the United States.
- 2.2 AEA current activities to support Egyptians living abroad to participate in the Egyptian presidential election and AEA planned delegation trip to Egypt. The attendees expressed their concerns that the planned trip may be premature.
- 2.3 The attendees expressed their strong opposition to call on, encourage, or support any foreign powers to interfere in Egypt’s internal affair, as history has proved the danger of such move.
- 2.4 Past experience related to other Egyptian organizations.
- 2.5 Empowering the AEA through increasing membership by attracting second generation.
- 2.6 Possibility of establishing a non-profit organization in US for helping Egypt
- 2.7 Identifying charity organizations in Egypt that can distribute solar cell LEDs (a new product from a company recommended by Waguih Ishak) for poor people with no access to electricity in Egypt.
- 3) The attendees commented the following on the Existing AEA web site:
- 3.1 There is no “Bylaws” page, and Tarek Saadawi explained that it is still under editing and will be available soon.
- 3.2 The Membership page is not clear about the difference types of membership, and the duration of the memberships (monthly, annual, etc.). Membership page requires the new member to accept AEA “Bylaws”, which are not published yet.
- 4) The attendees agreed to establish a new chapter for the alliance in northern California and elected Aly Elrefaie to chair the chapter. The chapter will start arranging monthly meetings.
