AEA Board Teleconference meeting minutes. November 21, 2010

Present: Mahmoud Elshazly, Tarek Saadawi, Mokhtar Kamel, Ossman Elrefai, Kamal Elsawy, Ahmed Fathi, Aly Elrefaie, Ibrahim Hussein
The goal of the meeting is to discuss the forthcoming visit by a delegation from the Alliance to Cairo in December 2010
The main subject for discussion was to define clearly the goals of such visit. After open an lively discussion the following decisions were taken:

• 1- While some may arrive early and or leave later, the time for formal meetings shall be between 20 to 30 December 2010.
• 2- The first goal for the visit is to discuss the practical steps to implement the voting process for Egyptians abroad.
• 3- To exchange views with opinion leaders, political activists, intellectuals and the media, listening to their views and and explaining to them our position on important issues of the moment.
• 4- Explaining to our counterparts what is AEA and wht is its Mission.
• 5- Sending a letter to President Mobarak requesting a meeting with to lobby him on behalf of the issue of the rights of Egyptian expatriates to exercise their rights to vote at Egyptian diplomatic posts where they reside, among other issue of concern. The timing, language and method of sending the letter was left to later deliberations and consideration to what is most appropriate.
